  • Description Striped, beige, and multi-colored
  • Notes This textile is multi-colored, consisting primarily of yellows, oranges, greens, and browns. The main difference between this cloth and the others in the collection is its lack of fringed edges, and presumed Abujan creation*. The geometric pattern is typical of cloths like this, as is the repetition of forms. However, the motifs are untraditional, which hints at its Abujan as opposed to Akwete origins. The overlap of line over symbol is also unique. *Marian Davis, “Akwete Cloth and Its Motifs.” (African Arts, vol.7, no. 3, 194), 22-25.
