- Notes The Fulani are nomads in Sub-Saharan West Africa. The Fulani have notably finer features and are very colorful in dress. Carved heads such as this are non-traditional and primarily made as portraits for the art market and tourists. The female head has earrings, and wider lips as well as a longer face than the male head. Made of either African mahogany or ebony, then stained.
