  • Notes This picture depicts a young girl of the Tigrigna ethnic group. The Tigrigna live in the highlands of Eritrea and are descendants of the people who once ruled the Kingdom of Axum. Today this group is primarily made up of pastoral agriculturalists. The girl’s braided hair is indicative of her living in a rural area.
