- Notes Vessels such as this are used to cool water, to store palm wine and home-brewed beer, and to pour libations in honor of ancestors. The jar can also be placed on shrines or graves. Liquid must be poured in and out through the spout, as the top is not detachable. Although commonly called Lunda pottery, the style can be found among the Cokwe to the east and the Luba to the west.
