  • Notes The Bambara masks are used during a ritual of initiation and for other important events such as births, circumcisions, weddings, funerals and purification rituals. The most prominent features of this mask are the downcast eyes, long narrow nose which flares out at the bottom, pursed mouth, c-shaped ears, the projection from the top of the head and the diagonal shapes surrounding the face.
