  • Notes IDASA (Institute for a Democratic Alternative for South Africa) in 1993 commissioned Israel Mashigo to produce ten large color posters dealing with the most critical electoral issues. The printed posters along with a training manual were placed in a “You Can Vote” kit to be used by people leading voter education workshops in rural areas all over South Africa. Part of the message of this poster is that each village will have easy access to a voting station, that people will line up in a queue, and that there will be voting monitors to answer questions and keep order. The most important message is that people should be tolerant, even amicable. Every individual in the poster is smiling even the two young men who support different parties.
