  • Notes IDASA (Institute for a Democratic Alternative for South Africa) commissioned Israel Mashigo to produce ten large color posters dealing with the most critical electoral issues in 1993. The printed posters along with a training manual were placed in a “You Can Vote” kit to be used by people leading voter education workshops in rural areas all over South Africa. This poster is meant to discuss people’s dreams for their community. In rural areas within South Africa, clean water, access to education, and adequate land to grow food were major concerns during this time. The instruction manual for this poster asks the facilitator to encourage people to identify the three most important improvements they would like to see in their community. They are asked what they can do for themselves and what the new government can assist them with.
