- Notes Shakers are commonly found in Southern Africa and made from the dried fruits of the spiny monkey orange tree. Seeds are inserted into the dry shells to give the shaker its characteristic sound. Because of its simple and tactile quality, the rattle can be used by people of all ages, including children.
