  • Notes The heddle loom is used to weave long strips of cloth that are sewn together to make clothing, blankets, wall hangings and other textiles. All textiles are made of long threads or fibers called warp that come from palm fronds or cotton. The first step in the weaving process is to assemble and arrange the warp threads. Next the threads are alternately pulled or pushed into the warp. Running fabric at a ninety-degree angle, the weft threads alternate over and under the wrap creating a woven fabric. Finally, the last step involves tightening the threads.
