- Notes Jack C. Fletcher was a part-time craftsman based in Bellevue, Washington where he worked primarily in sculpture. He began sculpting in 1958, starting with work in aluminum and later delving into work with mirrors. Fletcher attended the University of Washington where he developed his sculpting skills. Along with sculpting, Fletcher had experience in woodworking and welding and had his own foundry and wood shop. He worked for Dr. Richard Fuller at the Seattle Art Museum for 13 years where he repaired damaged sculptures. Through his work Fletcher displayed his concern for communication shown through the viewer and object relationship facilitated by his artwork. Genesis III in the Whitworth Collection is an outlier in Fletcher’s work as it does not utilize his signature mediums or themes.
