- Notes Rural women in the Democratic Republic of the Congo provide much of the agricultural work including firewood gathering, water hauling and childcare. In this wood carving we are presented with two out of three of these important tasks: two women are depicted carrying jugs of water over their heads while supporting their children using a wrapper, a piece of cloth with multiple usages .
