- Notes Bill Rades is a Washington based artist who focuses on painting and printmaking. Rades was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin, and he earned his Master of Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin in 1968. He later moved to Washington where he served as professor of painting, drawing, design, and contemporary art at Pierce College in Tacoma. Many of Rades paintings were done with acrylic, often utilized through an airbrush capable of creating the distinctly crisp lines. Rades style is categorized by bright bold colors often in contrast to dark greens or blacks. He often combines animal imagery and the occasional Donald Duck with geometric forms creating a dynamic composition.
