- Notes Sironka’s work is a commentary on the Maasai, his people’s way of life. When a Maasai woman is married, she is allocated a number of cattle by her husband. Many Maasai men practice polygamy and set aside particular cows for each wife. The cattle are hers by name only; she is the caretaker until her sons inherit them when they are of age. *Sironka, Nicholas. A Gift from God?: Batik Art on the Maasai Culture, 2000.
