- Description This hand-colored with drypoint etching on Japon paper with depicts a slender, bent tree trunk with a few long flowing branches that shelter a figure seated on the ground. The figure wears a shirt with a ruffled collar and cuffs, and leans over to write in a notebook. The etched lines that describe the some of the leaves and outlines of the tree trunk and figure are velvety black. This texture appears to be drypoint. In addition, the etching has added color. Yellow and green touches of color embellish the tree trunk and foliage and gold decorates the cape of the figure seated on the ground.
