- Notes Sironka’s work is a commentary on the Maasai, his people’s way of life. The Maasai have always adhered to age-set groupings in their family and community hierarchy. Once a young boy is circumcised, he is from then on considered to have become a man. The departure from youth leads to more recognition as he can now be given greater responsibilities. The other stages that a Maasai man will experience are that of becoming a warrior, then an elder, and finally a senior elder. *Sironka, Nicholas.
