This workshop event will bring 20 students and their research mentors from across the Pacific Northwest to Whitworth's campus to explore the crystallographic process during a 4-day workshop.

The pedagogical objective of this project is to provide participants with formal and hands-on training in the practical aspects of crystallography with emphasis placed on increasing research capacity. We envision this Summer Crystallography Institute (SCI) will facilitate access to a broad user base of U.S. scientists that will encourage the collaboration of state-of-the-art instrumentation available on Whitworth's campus. This SCI will utilize teaching and laboratories in the Robinson Science Hall as well as residence hall space.
